Artist Bio

Through the course of my life I’ve worked more than 25 different jobs but the one constant in my life is always art. I've been making art since i was 5, of course my choice of medium has changed somewhat since then. My current creations rely on up-cycled dolls and found objects, combined with tradition mediums of paint, paper mache & collage

Artist Statement

Growing up, barbie was one of many dolls my sister and I would play with. At the time as a child I didn't realize the body politic of barbie, she was just a part of what it meant to grow up in the late 50's. But as the geeky, teenager in the early 70's found her footings and woman's lib was the first politics I experienced, the reality of all that barbie meant was obvious. That she still exists to this day in all her unreformed glory makes me want to change her more. I want to take barbie to an altered place, where this very toxic icon can become something political or spiritual.
