Artist Statement

Princesses and gilded cages were the inspiration for creating these sculptures. Each doll is enthroned upon her stage, but her stage is also a cage, and she is trapped. Each one represents a different stereotype of “dream women”; the waif-like ballerina, the innocent sweet thing, the dangerous exotic beauty, and the mystic temptress.These empty icons are revered like royalty in todays media-run society, and yet the women who aspire to such goals are themselves the victims.
