Artist Statement

Humans are object-makers and object-users. Much of this artist's mixed media assemblages explore the idea that an artwork can be in between two things or even represent those same two things simultaneously: humorous but also sad, context-specific and personal but also broadly universal, cliché but also innovative.
Favorite objects include children’s toys, anything suggesting containment—shelves, suitcases, cabinets, boxes—as well as tools, and items dealing with spirituality, literature, history, and gender. Some artworks are inspired by the objects themselves, while others are the result of pursuing specific themes. They’re all meant to be provocative in some way.
