As a little girl, Barbie epitomized the perfect woman to me, something to strive to be so that I could one day obtain my "Ken". I dreamed that I would grow up to be a beautiful woman and have the perfect prom date, maybe even be prom queen.

As many of us know, no one can live up to look like Barbie and most relationships, even marriages have difficult realties.

In this work, we hope to depict the reality of the small town prom date. The tragedy of hopes crushing down and the beauty of falling in love with a new little one, with the opportunity for redemption- to tell the new little baby girl the truth- life is not perfect, there will be heartache, but we have a chance for beauty and love, with or without our Ken doll.
