The Jade Empress

This pivotal, jointed Barbie doll made the perfect medium for a spooky, dragon like Empress.

Barbie's head was sculpted over with polymer clay, it was heat set and then her whole body was painted with acrylics and golden powders to give her a ghost like and dragonesque sheen. Her elegant, glowing satin robe was desgined and stitched entirely by hand just for this doll. Her pretty cotton under dress was also stitched and painted by hand with Chinese characters.

The Empress has very lovely and unique accessories, most of which are made with various forms of real jade including her crown of Russian jade and red ribbons, and the perfect green jade orb in her outstretched hand (which is a bead from an antique necklace).

Being a fully jointed Barbie originally the Empress remains fully poseable and can be set into a variety of different poses and gestures. She comes with her own stand and seems to have a very comforting, elegant presence.
